Rise of the Reds roleplay Round 4
From FSDB
Rise of the Reds roleplay Round 4 was a game on the Fallout Studios forums relating to the impending release of the newest version of the Rise of the Reds modification by the SWR Productions team. Rise of the Reds roleplay Round 4 was based on the first three Rise of the Reds roleplay rounds that took place in the Spammy Yummy Discussion and Game Discussion. The rules were totally reworked from Rise of the Reds roleplay Round 3 and the map was provided by Wizard.

History
Round 4 had a troubled history at its beginning. It was created when Round 3 foundered before the beginning of the second turn thanks to a sudden and unexpected work overload for its Game Master, Overdose, who contacted CommanderJB, previously a participant in Round 2 and the Russian General in Round 3, some time later and awarded him the Game Master position in an attempt to make a fresh start. The newly-coined Round 4 was originally intended to be only a minor tweak to Round 3 based on player suggestions, but, based on further consultation with RPG veteran Aftershock, it was steadily reworked until it was almost completely new. With turns now taking a full 48 hours, defined territories, impermanent task forces, the 'reinforcement points' concept and a totally re-imagined combat model, the roleplay was in effect a different game. This was done by both CommanderJB and Wizard, who offered to help him, after taking into account the rampant off-topic behaviour that had characterised the first two rounds, and the great overload of power held by the Game Master in Round 3.
Round 4 progressed slowly toward a start, enlisting a player set over the course of several weeks, but the constantly evolving rule set prevented an actual beginning of the game. After a period of about a month from its announcement, Round 4 fell dormant before a game thread had even been set up for about another month. It was finally revived, and positions were re-opened, with members who had previously joined guaranteed a seat so long as they proved their ongoing activity within a week. After a few changes, and some shuffling of players among teams, the player sets were again completed. Very minor tweaks were made to the rules set to produce a final version, and Round 4's game thread was opened at last on the 21st of April 2009, with a practice Turn 1 beginning later that day.
In the end, Round 4 did little better than its predecessor. Persistent issues with members failing to post resulted in it managing only three turns, each of them slow. It finally closed in June 2009 as a result of the departure of SWR Productions and all of their modifications, including Rise of the Reds, from Fallout Studios.
Roles in the Rise of the Reds roleplay Round 4
As with Round 3, the European Continental Army and the Russian Federation were the only factions in Round 4 of the Rise of the Reds roleplay, with each faction fielding one General, three Officers and three Commanders. Members were required to fill out application forms found in the roleplay's opening post in order to be eligible to join. Once the ranks were full the positions were closed until either a member of the thread resigned from their position, a member was asked to leave, or the Game Master decided to change the roleplay and increase the number of participants.

Due to the spread of the original Rise of the Reds userbars (originally created by Comr4de for the Round 2) to users all over Fallout Studios with no connection to the roleplay, a new set was created by Wizard for Round 4 to distinguish those who held roleplay positions from those who were simply fans of the mod, and to give the newly 'promoted' members 'badges of rank'.
