MAJOR FILE is a meme which originated on the Fallout Studios IRC channel. It is canonically written 'MAJOR FILE' in all caps, since this is generally considered the 'correct' form. It is also sometimes erroneously typed in normal capitalisation, i.e. 'major file' or 'Major File'.
Overview
The phrase was coined by Bob, who intended it to be a parody of MAJOR FAIL, a common internet meme for someone being particularly stupid or inept at accomplishing a task. The change from FAIL to FILE was done for humorous effect. After a number of uses in the IRC channel it has made its way to the Fallout Studios forums, where Bob is generally the person posting it. However other members who spend time in the IRC have been known to post the words MAJOR FILE as well. An image macro was created by Bob to accompany the phrase as well. It depicts a rather large 'file' in the sense of a folder or archive, as seen to the right. MAJOR FILE is also used by Bob to describe foolish conversations posted in the Funny quotes thread.
Since its conception, several puns on the original phrase have surfaced. Most notably these include LARGE ARCHIVE by CodeCat and MASSIVE DOCUMENT HOLDER by Waris.
