Dauth is a member of the Fallout Studios forums and joined on the 31st of July 2006. He is a native to the Black Country in the English West Midlands area. He has begun a PhD at University of Leeds in Earth Science after completing an Undergraduate Masters degree in Physics with Theoretical Physics at The University of Manchester. He was promoted to Staff in February 2008 and further to administrator in January 2009, but resigned his position in February 2010. He was a member of the C&C Untitled modification team as a beta tester, and runs the short story competition. Dauth has contributed to the lore of the Rise of the Reds modification, working primarily on the Meet the Generals releases.

As a result of his studies Dauth has a fondness for science and even created his own hierarchy with other subjects, physics predictably being the most important. An ardent atheist, Dauth enjoys debates about human nature and religion, where his sources are evolutionary arguments and a bedrock of logic.

Dauth is normally rather grumpy, especially towards those he considers idiots, to whom he reserves a special hatred. He is also without time for anyone who tries to damage the Fallout Studios community. Despite this Dauth almost never responds directly out of anger, but instead provokes his opposition. The style of arguments used is designed to leave an opponent embarrassed or speechless. It is employed sometimes for entertainment of others, but mainly for his own amusement.

Role on Fallout Studios

Dauth helps members with their computer issues using a dedicated thread with a number of frequently asked questions. Dauth has also created a thread designed to solve a series of installation issues for ShockWave with contributions from AJ and General FCS.

Dauth is normally well spoken and tries to ensure every post is in high quality English, he is known to be rude to people who swear incessantly. Dauth is quite happy to make direct comments on member's behaviour and has accused people of behaving like children, a comment he retracted citing some pleasant children he knew. After member comments during the moderator strike, Dauth and Wizard have agreed to work as primary moderators for the newly created Political Area. The rules and application form for the Political Area were co-written by Dauth and Wizard who are both trying to avoid the flame wars that plagued the Deep End. Dauth stepped down as Political Area leader in March 2009. Prior to the opening of the Political Area, Dauth joined Revora to discuss politics but has remained fairly inactive.

Dauth has formed strong friendships with a number of members, notably Wizard who was promoted alongside him. Dauth and Wizard are well known for their exploits in the Funny quotes thread, often swearing at each other after recording an embarrassing series of comments. Due to the immense popularity of these comments Dauth and Wizard regularly set up potential quotes for each other. He is also an avid Aston Villa fan and spends quite a lot of his time trying to goad Wizard into believing they are the best team in England.

In Fallout Studios culture

Dauth was involved in the rush to 1000 pages in the Last Person to Post Wins thread in the Serial Spammers forum. After being first on pages 995 to 999 he was unfortunately pipped at the post by Bob. A little end game cheating was done for comic effect but moments later the true winner was crowned. Dauth was also macro'd by The_Hunter in the Pics of yourself thread, after posting an image of him in dark sunglasses staring at the camera. The_Hunter added text saying Mister Anderson... in reference Agent Smith of the Matrix series of films. Dauth engaged in the great name change, where he and Bob swapped identities for the day. This led to a number of confused conversations and chaos in the Fallout Studios IRC Channel. He enjoys quoting people, not least himself.

Dauth was briefly a General in the Rise of the Reds roleplay Round 3 however he retired in favour of Aftershock who could spend more time on the roleplay. Dauth also helped design the gameplay mechanics when he and Overdose were discussing the end of the second Rise of the Reds roleplay thread.

Dauth's personality was highlighted when Overdose created a thread entitled Stadmins explained where he proceeded to describe all staff and administrators using common villain stereotypes. Dauth was described as a combination of Magnificent Bastard, For Science and Those Two Bad Guys. The final piece was a combination with Wizard.

His name, which has been used for over a decade, is taken from the 5th century Gothic word dauþus/dauthus, meaning death. CodeCat once suggested that he change his name to libains, meaning life. During the second great name change, AJ took the name 'Libains' in a bid to further the conflict driven relationship he has with Dauth. This follows a small competition between the two members about who could make the most wiki contributions in a month, Dauth won with ease.
